About Us
Open Heart Adoption plays an active role in the adoption process in Ukraine. In our work, we are dedicated to assisting parents as they seek to provide a home to orphans abroad.
Whether you are considering becoming an adoptive parent, you are already in the process of adopting, or just interested in learning more, we hope that you will find this site to be a useful resource about Adoption in Ukraine. The information you will find here is intended to provide you with an overview of Ukraine adoption. Throughout our site, you will find varied information that touches upon many different aspects of the adoption process in Ukraine.
We are working as adoption facilitators in Ukraine since 1999 and have huge experience in Ukrainian adoption process and solving arisen problems. In our team there are experienced interpreters who help facilitate your adoption process in Ukraine. We work mostly with the families from the US, Canada and a few from European countries. We may help you with advice, Ukrainian dossier requirements and other issues regarding adoption in Ukraine. We would be happy to assist you with our services and make your trip to Ukraine as pleasant as possible.
We offer an inexpensive adoption program in Ukraine and you decide on your own what your spending will look like. We understand what an important decision this is for you. We would like to assure you that our team is one that really cares about the children and wants to do everything possible to find them a loving family of abroad. At the same time we are a professional organization in Ukraine that has stood the test of time and has excellent results and a relationship with the old NAC and new SDA. Ukrainian Adoption Criteria
CHILDREN AVAILABLE IN UKRAINE:
- Five years and older, with Caucasian appearances. Sibling groups available. The amendment exempts children with certain special needs, relative adoptions, and sibling adoptions.
- Ukraine is good and cheap country for adoption - if a family can be flexible and can consider not one child under 6 y.o. and sibling groups of 2-3 children, in this case children can be younger - under 5 y.o. for example, one child 6-7 y.o. and second 2-4 y.o.
- Or if family consider special needs or older children, we have low fees for these categories.
- It is really difficult to adopt one girl under 7 y.o. in Ukraine, but still possible.
- Travel to Kiev for an interview in the Ministry where family will receive photos and information on available children. Some information on waiting children may be available prior to travel. Testing for HIV, hepatitis and syphilis.
- Some children will need medical and/or developmental intervention.
- More boys are available than girls.
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Two or one trip to Ukraine required.
- First trip will be approximately 2-3 weeks, family comes home for 2 weeks, then one parent returns to Ukraine for about ten days.
- Alternatively, family can stay and complete the adoption process in one trip which is approx. 35-45 days.
LENGTH OF PROCESS:
- Preparation of adoption dossier takes 2-3 months.
- It takes a few months to get dossier filed in Ukraine.
- Parents make first trip approx. 2-3 months later.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA:
- Parents must be Flexible.
- Couples should be married.
- Adoption can be completed with one parent only.
- Singles are not eligible.
